Synchronicity to Build Semiconductor IP Delivery and Design Management Systems for ARM
MARLBORO, Mass.----Nov. 13, 2000--Synchronicity
Inc. today announced that ARM (LSE:ARM)(Nasdaq:ARMHY) will use
Synchronicity's IP Gear(TM) suite of Internet application servers for
its semiconductor intellectual property (SIP) delivery, support and
e-business system.
``ARM has a complex challenge to deliver and support their line of
processor cores and related products to the many fabrication processes
their 40+ semiconductor partners use,'' said Synchronicity CEO, Dennis
Harmon. ``ARM chose Synchronicity because of our experience and skill
at implementing SIP Web Portals and systems to manage the development
supply chain.''
Warren East, ARM chief operating officer, commented,
``Synchronicity's SIP support system will enable us to enhance the ARM
IP delivery process for our partners, providing them with a secure
method of efficiently and effectively accessing our technology.''
The system will enhance the quality, timeliness and visibility of
deliveries from ARM, and will benefit all ARM licensees with threaded
support discussions that include searchable archives, all through a
secure but generic browser interface.
``The rapid and accurate integration of deliverables from our IP
suppliers into our internal design libraries is crucial to our
aggressive project schedules,'' said Nick English, executive director,
External IP Technologies at Conexant. ``We are building infrastructure
to manage our entire supply chain of design data and SIP from external
suppliers, also mainly out of Synchronicity's IP Gear. We applaud this
innovative IP delivery and support offering from ARM and
Synchronicity, especially since it will flow seamlessly into our own
internal reuse system.''
ARM licensees who use Synchronicity's tools to manage their
internal development efforts will automatically have deliveries and
updates pushed to them in real-time. They can accept, unpack, verify
and internally re-distribute ARM's deliveries in hours instead of
weeks. ARM partners not using Synchronicity's design management and
reuse software will be able to readily access their ARM deliverables
and receive support through any web browser with FTP access, though
updates and internal redistribution will have to be done manually.
